Cinedigm and Glass House Distribution launch multi-film deal with gritty drama GUTTERBUG

Directed by Andrew Gibson, the film will premiere on digital and DVD on August 11

/EIN News/ — LOS ANGELES, June 22, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Cinedigm Corp. (NASDAQ: CIDM) announced a multi-film deal with Glass House Distribution beginning with GOUTTERBUG. Directed by Andrew Gibson, the award-winning film is set for digital and DVD release on August 11, 2020. Cinedigm’s partnership with Glass House Distribution also includes the release of comedy CANADIAN STRAIN and thriller SAVIORS, both slated for release in september. .

The cast of GUTTERBUG by Andrew Yackel (“spirit hunter”), Justin Pietropalo (mastery) and Hannah Mosqueda (“The murder of James Patterson is eternal”) star in this counterculture anthem about a young man struggling with homelessness and mental health in his drug-fueled reality.

GOUTTERBUG delves into the realities of American drug culture where the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Desperate to leave life on the streets behind, on his 21st birthday, Bug (Yackel) decides it’s time to go home. The previous three years had been marred by ups and downs, or ups and downs, and in a fleeting moment of sobriety, he realizes the only way to get back on his feet is to get out. But the streets aren’t over with Bug yet, and the decision leads him and his misfit crew down a dangerous path.

GOUTTERBUG has won several film festival awards, including the Grand Jury Award from Dance with Cinema Festival and the Public Prize and the Jury Prize at the Woods Hole Film Festival. Director Andrew Gibson was also recognized by winning the Emerging New England Filmmaker Award at Woods Hole Film Festival. The film’s producers are Tim Haber and Leigh Lanocha, along with Gibson who wrote the screenplay with Chris Tobin.

“GUTTERBUG is a captivating film from start to finish. All the performances are spot on and from the first time we screened the film we knew it was something special,” said Tom Malloy, President of Glass House Distribution.

“Glass House Distribution’s initial slate is raw and timely,” said Cinedigm director of acquisitions Josh Thomashow. “GUTTERBUG first comes out with a raw look at the realities of homelessness, mental health, drug use and toxic friendships, followed by CANADIAN STRAIN and SAVIORS who are sure to engage audiences with equally challenging storylines. Cinedigm is delighted with this new partnership and we look forward to working with the team at Glass House on many more releases.

The deal was brokered by Josh Thomashow, Director of Acquisitions for Cinedigm and Tom Malloy for Glass House Distribution.
